Online Achievements & Interactive Calendar

Google is slowly become the single resource for content management. Google has virtually everything from online calendars to shared online spreadsheets. We are currently using the Google Blog’ (Blogspot) to help maintain a running record of communications and it is with great pleasure that I announce we now offer two (2) new extensions of Google for our Den.

The first is an interactive Den Calendar of currently planned meetings, outings, activities and so forth. These were recently updated at our recent planning meeting last week. These are separate from pack, district, council, regional, national activities. These calendars are part of their program. The Pack Calendar can be found at http://www.pack766.org/index.asp?iPageID=9.

The next exciting tool I would like to introduce is Google Docs that will enable us to maintain an updated mutual record of each Scout. These are privately shared and are not publicly viewable.

Both of these tools require the user to obtain a Google Account in order to ensure only the selected individual can view the file(s) and/or information. If you would like to take advantage of these tools, please be sure to sign up for an account as soon as possible (https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount).

Within the next few hours you will receive an individual email with a link to the online achievement file. Please take time to review this file and if the file is missing any achievement/sports/academics/electives that your Scout has complete, please place an “X” in the appropriate field and the records will be updated. Of course Akelas can still use the manual print-outs that will be available at Den Meetings to communicate the activities completed by the Scout.

We need these records updated at least two weeks before Blue & Gold in February to help determine the Scouts that will be receiving their Wolf Badge at the February Meeting.
